“AIDAS” Folk Dancers

The AIDAS Lithuanian Folk Dance Group was formed in 1981.  Anita Strumillo has been the instructor since its inception.  The group is called “AIDAS” (Echo) because the “AUŠRA” Folk Dancing Group in Omaha, Nebraska was instrumental in assisting with AIDAS’ formation. AIDAS is a “family” group, made up of children, teens and adults of all ages.  We dance together and separately depending on the dance and the occasion.

AIDAS has performed in the International Folk Dance Festival every four years since 1984.   This festival has been held in Chicago, Canada and Los Angeles. AIDAS has performed over 300 times since the beginning in 1981.  The group gathers to practice approximately twice per month at Westport Presbyterian Church.

Ethnic Enrichment Commission of Kansas City, Missouri
The Commission, with membership from 66 countries and ethnic groups encourage the understanding and appreciation of cultural diversity in the greater Kansas City area. With Kansas City and Missouri Parks and Recreation, the Commission hosts an annual festival in Swope Park each August.
